Frequently Asked Questions

A Bushlot sauna is built on a 5×10 utility trailer with a standard 2-inch ball hitch. It tows like any other trailer — no special equipment or commercial license required. A standard full-size pickup truck or SUV with a tow hitch can handle it.

You can position it in your backyard, park it lakeside, haul it to a campsite, or store it in a garage between seasons. The only requirement is a road-accessible site with enough clearance to maneuver a trailer.

A standard full-size pickup truck or body-on-frame SUV with a 2-inch ball hitch is sufficient. We'll provide you with the trailer's loaded weight prior to delivery so you can confirm your vehicle's tow capacity. Most half-ton trucks and larger SUVs are well within range.

If you're unsure whether your vehicle qualifies, ask us when you inquire and we'll help you work it out.

Four people comfortably. The interior bench layout is designed for a full sauna experience at capacity — not a tight squeeze. It's sized well for family use, friend groups, or couples who want room to breathe.

It starts with a conversation — use the contact form to reach out and tell us what you're thinking. We'll respond to discuss your customization options, answer any questions, and give you a complete picture of the build and cost.

Once you decide to move forward, we'll agree on your selections (stove type, interior wood, exterior finish), establish a build timeline, and discuss deposit and payment terms. We typically require a deposit at time of order to cover materials, with the balance due upon delivery.

Build time is several weeks depending on the current schedule. We'll keep you informed throughout. At delivery, we'll walk you through everything in person.

A typical build takes several weeks from materials ready to completion. The exact timeline depends on your customization choices, current build schedule, and material lead times. We'll give you a specific estimate when you inquire.

Because each sauna is made to order, we don't hold inventory — your sauna is built for you, not pulled from a shelf.

Yes. Because each sauna is made to order with your specific materials and finishes, we require a deposit at the time of order to cover materials costs. Deposit terms and the total balance structure will be discussed and agreed upon before any work begins. Everything is spelled out in a written sales agreement.

Everything. Every Bushlot sauna is delivered complete and ready to use on day one — sauna stove, interior wood, exterior finish, sauna hats, traditional bucket and ladle, essential oils, interior lighting, and towel hooks. Regional delivery within the trade area is included.

We don't advertise a base price and then charge for accessories that should be standard. What you agree to pay is what you pay, and when the sauna arrives it's ready to go.

Because your customization choices — stove selection, interior wood, exterior finish — meaningfully affect the final cost, and we'd rather give you an accurate number after a brief conversation than post a range that might not apply to your situation.

We're transparent about pricing and happy to discuss it directly. Reach out and we'll give you a complete picture.

Our primary trade area is Western North Carolina, with emphasis on the greater Asheville metro (Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood, and Madison counties). We also serve eastern Tennessee (Knoxville area) and the Upstate South Carolina region (Greenville-Spartanburg) — all within roughly 2–3 hours of Asheville.

If you're outside this area, reach out anyway and we'll let you know if delivery is feasible. The trailer-mounted design means logistics are relatively straightforward for accessible sites.

Yes. If you have the vehicle and prefer to pick up from our workshop in the Asheville area, that works. We'll do a full walkthrough with you at pickup so you leave knowing everything about your sauna.

In most cases, no. A trailer-mounted sauna is personal property, not a permanent structure — it doesn't require a building permit in the way a fixed installation might. That said, local ordinances vary, and the answer may differ if you're in a planned community, on leased land, or in a municipality with specific rules about outdoor structures or fires.

We recommend checking with your local zoning or planning office if you're unsure. We're happy to discuss this further when you reach out.

We will. Fixed-installation saunas — pre-built units delivered to a permanent site and placed on a prepared foundation — are a planned future offering. The same sauna quality and all-inclusive approach applies; what changes is the foundation and site logistics.

If you're interested in a fixed installation, mention it when you reach out. We'll let you know what's available and what's coming.

Yes. Every Bushlot sauna comes with a warranty covering materials and workmanship. Specific warranty terms will be provided in writing prior to your first sale. We stand behind what we build, and we want our customers to have a point of contact if something isn't right.

Absolutely. Because the sauna is trailer-mounted and registered as a vehicle in North Carolina, you own it outright and can sell or transfer it like any other personal property. A well-built, well-maintained sauna should hold its value better than most large purchases. That's part of the reason we build the way we do.
